Released on November 18th, 2001, the GameCube is Nintendo's entry into the next generation of gaming consoles. The GameCube is capable of displaying 12 million polygons per second with eight texture laters and running at 60 frames per second. The GameCube uses 8 centimeter optical discs which can hold up to 1.5 gigabytes of data. The GameCube's size comes in at a very small six inches by six inches by four 1/2 inches.

The GameCube has many possibilities for additions. Nintendo will soon make available a V.90 56K modem and a broadband adapter, both of which will plug into one of the GameCube's high speed ports on the underside of the console. Another feature coming is the ability to hook your GameBoy Advance up to the GameCube and use it to play games. One such demo was shown off at SpaceWorld 2001, the demo featured Kirby rolling around on the GameCube, and than when he fell, he "fell" into the GameBoy Advance, continuing gameplay.

The GameCube is a serious contender in the next-gen "console war," and with hundreds of great titles coming, there is plenty to look forward to.
