Where and Where Not to Buy
~By Snoop

Need to buy a game? The retailsman no help? Well, Snoop is here to help. I have written this editorial so you know where and where not to buy games. From online to department stores, where should you try and get to? Read on and find out! I have put up examples of what I am talking about next to the genre of store.

Game Stores (Electronic Boutique)

This is your best bet if you want to buy games. The store salesmen and saleswomen are usually very helpful. They seem to have all of the latest and greatest games in stock. They also have tons of accessories, tip books, Pokemon Cards, and more! They have used games as well. And since there is one of these in almost every Shopping Mall, you can't miss it!

Toy Department Stores (Toys R Us)

I have bought more games at Toys R Us than I can think of. They seem to always have the games you want, and than some. The salesmen and women aren't that helpful though. Sometimes you can get someone that knows alittle about video games, and than they will help you out some. But usually its just "Need help?, I will check if we have that in stock."

Electronic Stores (Fry's)

I don't have the store I listed near me, but when I went on vacation, this is where I bought my GameBoy Color. The stock of video games was horribly low though. The PC games were abundant. And I am pretty sure it is the same in most stores. I go to The Wiz to buy computer games mainly, and they have tons of them, but almost no video games. The salesmen aren't that smart when it comes to video games, but their home is in PC games. They seem to know tons about PC games. So if you want to buy some PC games, this would be your place.

Online Stores (EBworld.com)

This is one of my favorite places to shop, they have just about every game and the prices are all dead on. But I have two complaints which drop the ranking on my board of buying. There is no real-time customer service. I often have to wait two-three days for a response. Also, the shipping charges can kill ya. Adding almost $5 to the price. Also, delays can be quite often. I have had two bad experiences with online stores. I wanted to buy my first Expansion Pak online, and I had to wait close to 4 weeks to get it! Also, while shopping online, I ordered over night shipping and the game didn't arrive for close to a week! Why? They were moving the warehouse! Jeeze.

Toy ONLY Stores (Kaybee)

Here we start to get into the bad places to buy games. In Kaybee the staff could not be any less helpful. I once went to buy a game there, it was clearly in the case behind the counter, and when I asked if I could buy it, they said they didn't have it. Than I had to show them that they did have it. Also, the games seem to always be $10 more than everywhere else. I would not recommend buying games here unless this is the only place nearby, after all, they do have a pretty good selection of games for all systems.

Department Stores (Sears)

Even worse than KB, department store salesmen and women have almost no clue onto what video games are. They never have a selection of games that are worth buying, and they are always more expensive than everywhere else. I got my copy of Ridge Racer 64 from a department store, the game was $15 more than everywhere else, and the saleswomen didn't even know where the game was! Very poor service, a bad selection of games, and larger than average prices make department stores the place not to shop.

Yard Sales/Flee Markets (neighbor selling stuff)

I would not recommend doing this to anyone. You have no clue on what has happened to the games, and the sales people don't care. The price is right though. I got my copy of Sonic The Hedgehog for the Genesis for $5 at a flee market, but it was is very poor shape and the game had a tendency to freeze quite often. Also, there was a jiggly noise on the inside which I have yet to figure out what it is.

I hope this is helpful in someway. I also hope you follow my Board of Where to Buy, cause you don't want to be jipped!
