E3 2001: News Stories Archive: Day 2

Here's some info on some newly confirmed GameCube games:

Rogue Spear
It's now official that Red Storm and Ubi Soft's Rogue Spear title will be appearing on the GameCube and GBA. The games are set to be released by the end of the year. The GameCube version will be a port from the PC version with a few new options, but it will stay true to the PC classic.

Legends of Wrestling
Acclaim Studios Salt Lake City is developing Legends of Wrestling for the GameCube and it will be released this November. The game will allow you to play as the many legends of wrestling, such as Bret "The Hitman" Hart, Jerry "The King" Lawler, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka and George "The Animal" Steele.

The game will have plenty of action with twelve modes of play.

Acclaim on GameCube

As E3 only has two more hours today, the last bits of news are coming in, and they're amazing to say the least. Acclaim has stated that it has twelve GameCube games in development, four of which will be launch titles! All-Star Baseball 2002, Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2, XG3 Extreme Racing, and NFL Quarterback Club 2002 are the titles they'll have ready at launch.

Acclaim will release the other eight tiles during the fiscal 2002 year.

RareWare's Little Secret
Rumor has it RareWare is showing off a Sci-Fi platformer, but in the first person and strangely resembling Perfect Dark, behind the scenes of E3 to a select few. Could Rare be showing off the sequal to Perfect Dark behind closed doors? I and others believe so, and we may even get an official statement tomorrow. More as it comes in.

Update!: A page on the official Nintendo site has mysteriously poped up for the search "Perfect Dark Zero". It simply states: "Stay tuned for more information on Perfect Dark Zero straight from the showroom floor!" Hmm, yesterday there wasn't a page for it...

Miyamoto Working on 40 GameCube Titles?!?
Supreme game making overlord Shigeru Miyamoto has said to Daily Radar UK that he is currently overseeing the development of upto fourty GameCube titles! Also, he's training new programmers in the ways of making kick-arse games.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon GC
Ubi Soft has the rights to make games based off of the smash hit movie, "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and guess what, it's coming to the GameCube! No details are available, but some are expected to be released over the coming months.

OneBigVillage's Future E3 Plans
If the OneBigVillage Network is still around in three years, and I sure hope it is, I have planned out what we will most likely be doing at the show, since that will probably be the year we first visit E3 in-person, if we are still around.

I personally plan on getting in a fight with Silicon Knight's CEO Denis Dyack, than kidnapping Shigeru Miyamoto and forcing him to make a game based on Ziggy. And than I will pour a bottle of crazy glue on the Xbox.

Ofcourse, this is years away, and hopefully OBV will still be about by than, but these are some dreams of mine which I hope to have fulfilled in just a few years.

E3 2001 Videos Coming!
I have been asked quite a bit about where all of the video is, and thankfully, the servers are now working properly and I'm working on uploading close to 80 Megabytes of video! It should be up tonight, and you'll be able to download it than.
