Spaceworld 2000, Day 1
Good morning everyone, its nothing like getting up at 3:00am to report about
video games. As you can probably tell, the reports have come in, and everything
I have gotten is quite amazing! The GameCube, the controller for it, and tons
of info on the GBA! Below is all of the be headlines that happened at the pre-show:
Dolphin IS Nintendo GameCube (w/screen shot)
That's right, the official name is the Nintendo GameCube, but for the purpose
of this, NCube, because the chicks dig it. It has been speculated that this
was the name over the past few days, and looking at the facts, I was not surprised
that they did go with it. Below is what the system will look like, and yes,
they did make it a cube, just like the name suggests. It will come in a variety
of colors (other colors not shown), so you will have a nice selection to choose
from.

Confirmed Games for NCube:
Pokemon 3D RPG
Wave Race
Metroid
Zelda
StarWars Game
THE NCUBE CONTROLLER!!!
The controller has been shown, and its different from anything I have ever
seen. I have a screen shot, so you better thank me. Very nice looking design
I must say. It is possibly the most original thing I have ever seen. It has
two Analog Sticks, a Dpad, the L and R buttons are analog as well. There are
four action buttons on the right side, and there is a start button. There is
also built in rumble and ports for various things. Sadly, there are no trigger
buttons, which will change the feel of shooter games a little.
Update: Upon a closer look at the contoller, it does infact have a
"Z" button, possibly going to be used to replay the trigger button on the N64
controller.
NCube Release Date!
The Nintendo Gaming Cube will be released in Japan in July 2001. A US release
will follow in October 2001. There are already five confirmed launch titles.
More games will be revealed in May 2001 at the next Electronic Entertainment
Expo.
NCube Game ScreenShots!
Amazing, simply amazing. I cannot believe what this system can pull off. Just
take a look at the screen from the StarWars game, its almost as good as in the
movies! And don't forget the WaveRace one! PS2 MOVE OVER!!!
GameCube Gets a Modem
Conexant Systems will be making a V.90 56K modem for Nintendo's next-gen console.
This will allow web browsing and online gameplay. Amazingly, Nintendo promises
that a good amount of the games will be online-capable at the system's launch,
which is unlike the Dreamcast. There is also to be a rumored broad-band modem
in the works, but it most likely will not be available at launch, and probably
will cost extra.
Metroid to the NCube
That's right Metroid fans, after her no-show on the Nintendo 64, it looks like
Samus Arron is coming to the NCube and GameBoy Advance. Although she was in
Super Smash Bros, she was never in her own game on the N64. More info as it
comes in.
The Mobile GameBoy Color!
Ever want to sent e-mail or browse the web on your GameBoy? Well now you can!
Well... Atleast in Japan. The system will allow you to connect your GameBoy
to a cell-phone and do a bunch of crazy stuff. Some of that crazy stuff is playing
games online, and an IM service. Very cool stuff indeed.
GBA Release Date
The GameBoy Advance will be released in Japan on March 21st 2001 for a price
of 9800 Yen (about $90 US). No news yet on the US and UK release dates. They
will be shipping one million at the launch.
GBA Hardware Pics
Here are the first pics of the GameBoy Advance. And I have to say, the system
looks very cool. As you can tell, it looks completely different from the other
GameBoys and the LCD display much larger. I think the way Nintendo set the system
up will make it easy to use and hold. Small, isn't it?
Current GBA Lineup:
F-Zero
Tactics Ogre Gaiden
Wario Land 4
Fire Emblem GBA
Star Communicator
Monster Breed GBA
Castlevania: Circle of the Moon
Bomberman GBA
Advanced Fire Pro Wrestling
Winning Post
This is only day one of the coverage folks, 3 more days to go! We still have
much more GBA, N64 and GameBoy Color stuff to report on, so stay tuned to The
Village Network, cause you ain't seen nothing yet!
VERY special thanks to GameSpot
and Nintendo for the images!
